Payment Options

If you are 65 and older and have Medicare, you may be eligible for home health care services to be covered at 100%. Medicare requires the following for that to happen:

  1. You must be under a doctor’s care and the doctor must prescribe home care.
  2. You must need intermittent skilled care – meaning – you need a nurse, a physical therapist, a speech therapist, or continued services by an occupational therapist to see you at home a few times a week, not constantly.
  3. You must be considered “homebound.”

According to Medicare, to be homebound means:

  • Leaving your home isn’t recommended because of your condition.
  • Your condition keeps you from leaving home without help (such as using a wheelchair or walker, needing special transportation, or getting help from another person).
  • Leaving home takes a considerable and taxing effort.

“A person may leave home for medical treatment or short, infrequent absences for non-medical reasons, such as attending religious services. You can still get home health care if you attend adult day care, but you would get the home care services in your home.”
